Are You Living On Purpose… Or By Accident?
Seeing Who Is In Front Of You—and Loving Them Well
A Question That Stops You
Have you ever found yourself asking,
“How did I get here?”
Not just physically, but in the shape of your life right now—the pace you’re living at, the patterns you’ve fallen into, the relationships you’ve formed, the things you’ve said yes to without thinking much about them.
Days add up.
And over time, they quietly tell the story of your life.
How A Life Is Formed
A life is made of days.
And how you live your days becomes how you live your life.
Scripture speaks to this clearly: “Look carefully how you walk… making the most of the time… understanding what the will of the Lord is” (Ephesians 5:15–17).
Not rushed.
Not random.
Intentional.
When We Drift
It’s easy to slip into autopilot.
Responding instead of choosing.
Letting circumstances set the pace.
Saying yes without really noticing why.
And before long, life feels like something that’s happening to you instead of something you’re living.
Where Purpose Is Found
Purpose isn’t something you manufacture.
It isn’t something you build from scratch.
It is revealed.
The Spirit begins to uncover what has already been placed within you—how you’re wired, what stirs your heart, the ways love naturally moves through you.
It’s recognition of your purpose.
Living Awake In The Moment
So this day matters.
Not as pressure, but as an opportunity.
To notice who is in front of you.
To respond from love instead of reaction.
To be present to what has already been given.
“Don’t have a great day—make it a great day.”
Not by force, but by intention.
The Life You Were Meant To Live
You’re not here to drift.
You’re not here to react.
You’re not here to get through your days.
You’re here to live them—on purpose.
Most days won’t feel dramatic.
They will look like slowing down enough to see who is right in front of you… and choosing to love them well.
Those moments are easy to miss.
We rush past them.
We assume something more important is coming next.
But this is the life you’ve been given.
Not later.
Not someday.
Right here.
You’re not trying to make your life meaningful.
You’re recognizing that it already is.
This is not practice for a meaningful life—this is it.
Reflection
Where have I been drifting instead of choosing?
Who is right in front of me that I may be missing?
What would it look like to live this day on purpose?
Prayer
Abba Father, thank You that my life is not random. Help me live this day awake, present, and rooted in Your life within me. Teach me to see the people in front of me and love them well. Amen.
