And we all, with unveiled face, continually seeing as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are progressively being transformed into His image from [one degree of] glory to [even more] glory, which comes from the Lord, [who is] the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:18
True Transformation
Imagine a plain cartoonish Caterpillar.
Now add:
Long beautiful eyelashes
Lipstick
Perfume
Frilly dress
Hair bonnet with a bow
Diamond Necklace
Now, it could qualify to play a Cinderella caterpillar.
Yet, what you still see is a caterpillar.
As followers of Christ, we have settled for much less than we are purposed.
We aspire to win a caterpillar beauty contest instead of being transformed into beautiful butterflies!
We try to get rid of old habits, talk better, be more likable, follow the rules, know the right things to say or not to say, never miss church on Sunday, etc.
But Jesus did not start another self-improvement program or cult.
He bids us come and die so that we may be transformed into a new life with purpose.
Transformed into His image, which is Love.
Transformed.
Beauty for ashes.
Mourning to dancing.
Fallow fields to harvest.
Barren to fruitful.
From a dead sea to living waters.
The old is gone; the new has come.
A new life where there once was death.
Jesus bids us come and die so that we may have His life coursing through our bodies.
From larvae to butterflies.
A new life with eternal purpose.
Have you been transformed?
How may you have circumvented God's process by refusing to enter the cocoon?
How may you have circumvented God's process by refusing to leave the cocoon?
As a butterfly, are you still trying to crawl instead of fly?
Search the scriptures and answer this question; "Who am I in Christ?"
Lord, forgive us for trying to mimic Your life by living from the outside to the inside. Holy Spirit, bring your smelling salts of conviction and awaken us to Jesus' life! May our lives glorify You!
