Forgiveness Is Prophetic

Living Free Into What Abba Says Is True

“Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” — Colossians 3:13

What Keeps Us Tethered

I’ve come to see forgiveness as something much larger than making peace with the past.

Unforgiveness can tether us to a person, a wound, or even an older version of ourselves. We may be free to move, yet part of our heart remains tied to something behind us.

Abba never intended our wounds to determine the boundaries of our lives.

Forgiveness begins by receiving what He has already given us—the mercy of knowing that in Christ we are completely known and completely loved.

Forgiveness Looks Forward

That’s why I believe forgiveness is prophetic.

Prophecy isn’t merely predicting what will happen someday.

At its heart, it declares what God says is true and invites us to live from His reality.

Abba calls us His masterpiece, created in Christ for a life He has already prepared for us. That masterpiece was never intended for a museum wall. It is living, breathing, moving, loving, and carrying His life into the world.

Forgiveness cuts the rope that keeps yesterday deciding where we can walk tomorrow.

The Treasure Gets To Move

Paul says we carry an extraordinary Treasure in ordinary jars of clay so that the surpassing power is clearly His.

That Treasure is Jesus Himself.

Forgiveness doesn't call evil good or pretend wounds never happened.

It simply refuses to let the wound prophesy our future.

Receiving forgiveness allows me to hear what Abba has always been saying about me, trust that it is true, and live from there.

Released To Live

Forgiveness is prophetic because it agrees with what Abba says is already true beyond the wound.

The wound may be part of our story, but it does not get to name us, define us, or decide where our story goes from here.

Abba has already spoken.

We are His beloved. Christ is our life. His Treasure is within us, and there is still so much Love ahead of us to receive, give, and carry into this world.

Forgiveness cuts the rope to yesterday and frees us to walk into the life Abba has already spoken over today and tomorrow.

Reflection

What has been speaking louder about my future than Abba’s voice?

Where do I need to receive forgiveness before trying to give it?

What might change if I allowed forgiveness to cut the rope?

Prayer

Abba Father, help me hear, trust, and live from what You have already spoken as true. Cut every rope still tying me to yesterday, and let Your Love bring flourishing wherever we walk together. Amen.
