Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of lights, the Creator and Sustainer of the heavens, in Whom there is no variation, no rising or setting, or shadow cast by His turning, for He is perfect and never changes. James 1:17
Never Changing.
Never.
Changing.
I can't say for everyone, but I need someone or something that never changes in my life.
I tend to gravitate towards things that don't change. Habits.
A comfortable chair. Early rising. It brings a sense of security.
Yet, no matter what, my world is still everchanging.
Accept change as I may, there is still a deep need for a sense of anchoring.
Even though everything in creation is changing or going to change, the One Who created the heavens does not change. Period.
He is the One Who beckons me to come and tether myself to Him.
A rock amid a sandy life He has become to me.
I love the definition of this part of God's being that is found in James 1:17: Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of lights, the Creator and Sustainer of the heavens, in Whom there is no variation, no rising or setting, or shadow cast by His turning for He is perfect and never changes.
My heart is longing for a place to go where I can find the One Who never changes His love for me. He is the gift that never changes.
How would your life be different if you found total security in the One Who never changes His love for you?
Lord, thank You for being our rock. Our foundation. Our structure. Our hiding place. Our fortress. In You and You alone do we trust. Amen
