For Zion's sake, I will not keep silent; for Jerusalem's sake, I will not be quiet until her righteousness goes forth as brightness and her salvation as a burning torch. The nations shall see your righteousness, and all the kings your glory, and you shall be called by a new name that the mouth of the Lord will give. You shall be a crown of beauty in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem in the hand of your God. You shall no more be termed Forsaken, and your land shall no more be termed Desolate, but you shall be called My Delight Is in Her, and your land Married; for the Lord delights in you, and your land shall be married. Isaiah 62:1-4
I Will Change Your Name
Abram to Abraham, Sarai to Sarah, and Saul to Paul, when God changes our identity, He does give us a new name: Beloved.
I was gently confronted privately by a brother in Christ after a seminar for a charitable organization.
I admit I did ask for feedback, but not the kind he gave me!
It was so gently and humbly given that God further opened my heart to hear.
This man grew up in a good home but with no financial resources.
He spoke about the shame he felt being called "Poor."
He said, "It became an identity to him."
It was stigmatizing.
He told me to consider speaking to one's circumstances in a way that doesn't label their person. Wow.
Identity does matter, for we are holy, blameless, and made complete in Jesus Christ regardless of our circumstances.
May we be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and see everyone as the Father does, with perfect love, not according to the flesh.
May we not judge anyone by their circumstances regardless of how they came about.
May we be about ministering His kingdom to everyone we meet.
It is knowing that He can make them new and give them a new name!
I Will Change Your Name
by DJ Butler
I will change your name. You shall no longer be called: Wounded, Outcast, Lonely, or Afraid.
I will change your name. Your new name shall be: Confidence, Joyfulness, Overcoming One, Faithfulness, Friend of God, One who seeks My Face.
Only You, Lord, the unchanging One, change us! May we continue to walk in the wonder of You and Your love for us and everyone we meet. May we be found faithful to see Your image and grab hold of the privilege of loving others with Your love. Amen
