Love does not dishonor others. I Corinthians Chapter 13
Love Honors Others
"Gossip needn't be false to be evil, for there's a lot of truth that shouldn't be passed around." Frank Clark
An old saying is that Christians don't gossip; they 'share'.
'Sharing' may be cloaked as a prayer request, concern, or counsel.
Regardless of how the talk may be positioned, discussing things about other people is often outside people's best interest.
"Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear."(Ephesians 4:29
Unfortunately, as some versions define it, corrupting or unwholesome is often thought of in the small terms of don't cuss or say dirty words.
It means not to use any talk that tears down instead of building up.
We don't just love by actions; we also love by words.
Does your talk build up others?
Does your conversation build up your community?
Would you speak it directly to the person you are talking about?
Is it loving?
If you are not part of the problem or the solution, you don't need to discuss it.
Lord, You love us and desire us to know the fullness of Your love and share it in ways that build up Your children and invite others into Your family. Teach us Your ways! Amen
