Love Is Not Easily Angered

The opposite of love is selfishness.

Love is not easily angered.

Love is not touchy, fretful, or resentful.

Love is not provoked [nor overly sensitive and easily angered]

Love is not easily irritated or quick to take offense.

(First Corinthians 1:5)

Love Is Not Easily Angered

Anger in itself is not sinful if it is righteous.

Anger is a normal response to injustice.

The root issue is determined by its origin. Notice each translation above speaks against a self-centered characteristic.

It is a picture of someone who has been slighted, overlooked, not served, takes something personal, or in general not getting their way.

When I find myself in this mindset, it is evident that I have forgotten my death and new life in Christ.

I have once again viewed myself as "the reference point" of my life, and I am not progressing towards becoming love.

Let anger be one of your leading indicators that the Holy Spirit can signal your way back home.

The opposite of love is selfishness.

How have you allowed anger to lead you?

How could you use anger to awaken God's justice in your life?

What difference would becoming love make a difference in your environment?

Lord, my life is Yours. Forgive me for trying to resurrect it for my use, ways, and glory. Thank you for the signposts that signal me upwards, not to the left or right. Amen
