Resting Is Trusting

“Rest isn't the absence of work; it is the presence of Peace.”

Resting Is Trusting

“Rest isn't the absence of work; it is the presence of Peace.”

“Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from Him.” Psalm 62:1

Trying To Be Enough

I can ask Jesus for help and then carry on as though everything still depends on me.

I want to love well, forgive freely, and trust Him fully, but I can make those desires into demands on myself.

When “Trying” Gets Heavy

“I’m trying to forgive.” “I’m trying to believe.”

I hear the longing in those words. We want to trust Jesus, yet we can turn even faith into something we must produce by determination.

Jesus invites weary people to come to Him and learn from Him. He offers rest in a relationship, not another assignment to complete before we can enjoy His company (Matthew 11:28–29).

Resting In His Life

Trusting doesn’t mean doing nothing.

It means I’m no longer expecting my effort to supply what only His Life can give.

Paul reminds us that God is working within us, shaping our desires and actions (Philippians 2:13).

I can bring the hurt I’m struggling to forgive into conversation with Abba. I can tell Him where believing feels difficult and receive help rather than scold myself for needing it.

Resting is trusting the One who lives within me and loves me perfectly.

I can put down the trying, receive the rest my body and soul need, and return to the people I love with more than whatever energy is left over.

I don’t have to wear myself out to live a life that gives others rest.

Reflection

Where has trying harder crowded out trusting Him?

What struggle could I bring honestly to Abba?

What would receiving rest make room for today?

Prayer

Abba Father, help me trust Your loving care enough to rest, and let Your Love shape the way I work and live. Amen.
