I am the True Vine, and My Father is the Vinedresser. Any branch in Me that does not bear fruit [that stops bearing] He cuts away (trims off, takes away); and He cleanses and repeatedly prunes every branch that continues to bear fruit, to make it bear more and richer and more excellent fruit. John 15:1-2
Our purpose is always to bear fruit, thus glorifying the Father.
Pruning and bearing fruit is a spiritual thing.
So, it means that Holy Spirit leads.
When I try to make spiritual changes in my power by pruning myself, I imagine I look like a two-year-old who has given himself a haircut!
Any victory you seem to attain apart from the Spirit, you will have to maintain in your flesh.
Our part is to stay put like a branch to allow the Vinedresser to do His work.
We can only let God do the pruning.
Pruning looks destructive, but it’s constructive.
“You may not understand everything God is doing, but you can trust He will do more through this season than you ever imagined.” Luke Lezon
Trust Him; Father knows best!
How have you tried to prune yourself through self-improvement or makeovers?
Can you describe a time of pruning that led to more fruit?
What do you hear Holy Spirit leading you to present for pruning?
Lord, You are the Vinedresser! We know we can bear no fruit to bring You glory apart from You. Have Your way with us! Amen
