The Lies We Believe
And The Truth That Sets Us Free
“You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” — John 8:32
In the garden, the serpent got Adam and Eve to question what God said.
He is still using the same strategy today.
Because what we believe shapes how we live.
The enemy does not need us to believe every lie. He only needs us to trust the ones that keep us from trusting the heart of God.
The Lie That God Is Disappointed In You
Many people quietly carry the feeling that God is perpetually disappointed with them.
Yet Romans 8:1 declares, “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
The Holy Spirit does not draw us through condemnation. He draws us by convincing us of what is true—of God’s love, God’s goodness, and who we are in Christ.
The voice of the Father is not the voice of accusation.
The Lie That You Are Too Far Gone
Some people look at their past and assume they have wandered beyond the reach of grace.
Jesus says otherwise.
“The Son of Man came to seek and save the lost.” (Luke 19:10)
Lost things are precisely what He goes looking for.
No one is beyond the reach of His love.
The Lie That Love Must Be Earned
The enemy loves turning relationship into performance.
Yet Romans 5:8 tells us that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Before you cleaned yourself up. Before you figured things out.
Love moved first.
The Lie That God Has Forgotten You
There are seasons when God can feel distant.
Yet through Isaiah He says, “Can a mother forget her nursing child?... I will not forget you.”
You have never slipped from His heart.
The Lie That God Cannot Use You
Scripture says God chooses the weak things of the world to reveal His strength.
The Bible is filled with people who looked unqualified.
And if you can still fog a mirror, God can still use your life to reveal His love.
Your limitations do not disqualify you.
The Question Beneath Every Lie
Every lie ultimately leads to the same question:
Is God really good?
Because if the enemy can get us to question God's goodness, we will eventually question His love.
And if we question His love, we will begin looking somewhere else for life, identity, security, and worth.
The battle has always been there.
Yet every truth in Scripture keeps bringing us back to the same answer:
God Is Good.
And He is better than we imagined.
Reflection
Which of these lies have I been most tempted to believe?
What truth does God speak against that lie?
How would my life change if I trusted His goodness more fully?
Prayer
Abba Father, help me recognize the lies that pull me away from Your heart. Teach me to trust Your goodness, Your love, and what You say is true. Amen.
