Untethered

Forgive us when we choose resentment over reconciliation.

Become kind toward one another, compassionate, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ has forgiven you. Ephesians

Untethered

As a child, I always wondered about the playground game of tetherball.

Why didn’t we cut it loose to kick, throw, and chase it?

Many of our lives are tethered by the sin of unforgiveness.

Moving into the New Year, may we untether ourselves from the anchor of unforgiveness so we can continue our journey further into our relationships with others and our Abba Father.

Father,

Forgive us when we choose resentment over reconciliation,

Nursing grudges over building bridges,

Staying mad over extending grace.

(Scotty Smith)

Looking back over the last year, what chains of unforgiveness do you need to let go of?

Who besides yourself do you need to forgive?

Looking forward to the new year, how will your life flourish if you stop keeping the score of your and others' wrongs against you?

Lord, thank you for the miracle of forgiveness. May we open Your present of forgiveness daily and pass it forward. Amen
