What Are You Magnifying?
Magnifying God doesn’t change His size—it changes your sight.
We’ve all done it.
You zoom in on the problem, obsess over what might go wrong, and suddenly…that minor bump in the road looks like Mount Everest wearing combat boots.
Truth: What you magnify will either shrink your faith or stretch it.
Magnifying the Lord Doesn’t Make Him Bigger
It simply allows you to see Him more clearly.
“Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together.”
— Psalm 34:3
God doesn’t need a spiritual zoom lens to be powerful. He’s already infinite.
Magnifying Him doesn’t change His size—it changes your sight.
Magnification Shifts Your Perspective
Your mountain?
Big.
But your God?
Bigger.
Your deadline, diagnosis, disappointment—it all starts to shrink when you view it through the lens of God's power and presence.
“I lift up my eyes to the hills—where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”
— Psalm 121:1–2
David wasn’t looking at the hills with dread.
He looked over them—to the God who made them.
When You Magnify the Problem, God Looks Small
Have you ever used your phone’s camera to zoom in on a crumb?
Suddenly, it looks like the Grand Canyon.
That’s what worry does. It magnifies the wrong thing.
Instead of rehearsing what’s wrong, start refocusing on what’s right:
God’s character. God’s Word. God’s Agape.
Consider This:
Start your day with praise, not panic.
Write down one way God came through for you last month.
Every time you feel overwhelmed, whisper: “Lord, I magnify You.”
Reflection
What have I been unintentionally magnifying—God or the mountain?
How would my day change if I chose to magnify God first?
What would it look like to see my current situation from His point of view?
A Closing Prayer
Lord, forgive me when I’ve let my problems look bigger than You. Help me shift my focus—off the mountain and onto the Maker. Let my soul magnify You daily, not because You need it…but because I do. Amen.
