What is “Transformational Generosity”?

· Generosity

Transformational Generosity is giving that can change both the giver and receiver. It transforms the giver through the relinquishing of ownership, thus, finding freedom and satisfaction outside of themselves. It transforms the receiver by meeting physical, emotional and spiritual needs. It can form the basis of transforming both the giver and receiver’s families.

Not all giving is transformational. Gifts that are given out of shame, guilt, reluctance or obligation can lead to the imprisonment of resentment. Gifts received that don’t meet the actual need, perceived as entitlement, or given condescendingly can lead to harm instead of transformation.
