When Light Comes In
WHEN WE LOOK AT JESUS — PART 6
Seeing Judgment Through Jesus
“And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world…” John 3:19
A Man In The Middle
A man with a withered hand stood before Jesus in the synagogue. Others were watching closely, hoping to find a reason to accuse Jesus if He healed on the Sabbath.
Jesus asked whether it was right to do good or evil, to save life or kill.
Nobody answered.
Mark tells us He was angry and grieved by their hardened hearts, and He healed the man.
What Love Brings To Light
What does this moment in Jesus’ life reveal about the Father?
He cares too deeply about people to leave cruelty or indifference unchallenged.
Jesus describes judgment as light exposing what darkness conceals.
His love doesn't make evil harmless or its consequences disappear. It tells the truth about what is hurting people.
My Heart, Too
I want Jesus to defend someone who has been wounded.
I also need His help recognizing when my own defensiveness or insistence on being right has wounded someone else.
That isn't comfortable, but neither is living behind explanations that keep me from hearing another person's hurt.
I want to be free enough to listen, apologize, and love them well.
The Love We Share
Jesus prayed that the Father's love would be in us, and that He Himself would be in us. We are invited to share a love that both comforts and confronts.
Abba doesn't look away from our wounds, and He doesn't look away from what causes them.
His light makes room for truth, healing, and a more loving life together.
Reflection
What does Jesus’ response reveal about Abba?
Where might His light be exposing something that hurts others?
How can I share His care for someone wounded?
Prayer
Abba Father, help me welcome Your light and share Your love with those who need tenderness and protection. Amen.
