When Fear Steals Tomorrow
Trusting Abba With A Future We Cannot See
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.” Matthew 6:34
Living Tomorrow Today
How many times have we emotionally lived through something that never happened?
Our minds can take one unanswered question and write an entire story around it.
Before long, we're feeling tomorrow's disappointment, carrying next week's pain, or grieving an outcome that exists only in our imagination.
Wendy Backlund says, “Worry is imagining your future as if God doesn't show up.”
Fear takes a day we haven't lived yet, removes Abba from the story, and then asks us to experience all the emotions today.
The Day Fear Steals
Jesus tells us not to worry about tomorrow, and I don't hear condemnation in His words.
I hear the tenderness of Someone who knows how exhausting it is to carry a day we haven't even been given.
Worry doesn't change tomorrow; it simply takes us away from the life, grace, and Love already present today.
Fear steals this day!
Who Is Already There?
The future is unknown to me, but it has never been unknown to the Father.
Whatever tomorrow holds, I won't arrive there before Him.
There is no diagnosis, conversation, loss, disappointment, opportunity, or unexpected turn where I will suddenly discover Abba missing.
Trust isn't pretending everything will turn out the way I want. It's knowing Who will be there however it turns out.
Come Back To Today
Fear pulls our imagination toward what might happen, while Love draws us back into the day we've actually been given.
There is life here, grace here, someone to love here, and Abba is here.
Tomorrow doesn't need me yet, but the people and opportunities He has placed in front of me today do.
I don't need tomorrow's answers today because tomorrow is already safe in the Father's hands.
Fear wants me to live a tomorrow that may never happen. Love invites me to fully live the day that is already here.

Where have I imagined tomorrow without Abba in it?
What is Love inviting me to receive today?
