Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:10
"My addiction issue was a strong will, not a weak one." MBW
Around and around, I went.
For a couple of years, in my battle with alcohol, I tried to control it.
Stop and listen to this: If you are trying to control something, then it is controlling you.
The need for control was evidence of a problem.
God led me to His revelation that my weak will was not the issue; it was my strong will, believing that I could overcome what was controlling me.
The flesh cannot cast out flesh; it can only substitute one self-sufficient habit for another.
Even if I had stopped drinking by my willpower, I would have taken all the false glory, dressed in a robe of pride, and masqueraded as a better-than-you Christian.
Yet, in His mercy, He orchestrated events and failures to lead me to utter self-helplessness.
Only God could rescue me by breaking my strong will.
And He did.
It was His will being done here on earth in me.
To say I am thankful isn't sufficient.
I enjoy my weakness and marvel at His kingdom ways.
God always leads with love.
Do you have a habit that you are trying to "control"?
Is there an area in your life where you cannot find peace?
Is there a thought pattern you are holding onto that needs to be broken to set you free?
If you ask, God will do the very thing you cannot do to set you free to glorify Him with your every breath.
Lord, how beautiful You are to us. How marvelous and higher are Your ways. Come and dazzle us with Your life in us. Amen
