WHEN WE LOOK AT JESUS — PART II
What Jesus Shows Us About Being Chosen
“He appointed twelve…that they might be with Him and that He might send them out.” Mark 3:14
He Wanted Them With Him
We know what it is to be needed for something we can do. But we also need to hear, “I just want you with me,” without an assignment waiting behind the invitation.
Jesus chose the Twelve “to be with Him.” They would discover the Father’s heart by sharing life with the Son.
For Someone Else, Too
Being chosen didn’t make them more loved than the people they would meet. The love they enjoyed with Jesus was meant to become the welcome, kindness, and mercy someone else would receive through them.
If we want to know what the Father is like, we look at Jesus.
His love doesn’t stop with the people He gathers; He sends them to share it.
Mercy We Can Pass Along
Peter had denied knowing Jesus, yet the risen Jesus restored him and entrusted him with caring for others.
Someone who has needed that much mercy has something tender to offer another struggling person. We can walk beside them without pretending we’ve never stumbled ourselves.
The Joy Of Being Chosen
Jesus prayed that the Father’s love for Him would be in us, and that He Himself would be in us (John 17:26).
We get to share that love with people who may still wonder whether anyone wants them.
Us being chosen is not a place above them, but a place beside them, where they can experience the Father’s welcome.
Reflection
Do I know Jesus wants my company, not merely my service?
Where has receiving mercy made me gentler with someone else?
Who might experience His welcome through me today?
Prayer
Abba Father, let me enjoy being wanted by You and share that welcome with others. Amen.
