Get Dressed (Part Three)

Prayer Is Where The Battle Is Won

Get Dressed (Part Three)

Prayer Is Where The Battle Is Won

Read Ephesians 6:10–18

What Paul Keeps Returning To

When people talk about the armor of God, most of the attention usually goes to the armor itself.

But Paul keeps circling back to something else.

Prayer.

“Pray in the Spirit on all occasions…”

By the end of the passage, it becomes clear that prayer is not separate from the armor.

It is how we remain aware of the life we are already living from.

What The Disciples Saw In Jesus

The disciples watched Jesus heal people, calm storms, raise the dead, and teach with authority.

Yet the one thing they specifically asked Him to teach them was how to pray.

Somewhere along the way, they realized prayer was not a religious exercise for Jesus.

It was a relationship, and it was where He lived.

The Battle Beneath The Battle

Most of the battles we face do not begin externally.

They begin internally.

Fear.
Accusation.
Discouragement.
Weariness.
Isolation.

Prayer helps us stop long enough to remember we are not carrying life alone—His life is already within us.

Not distant. Not approaching. Present.

And that changes how we walk through the battle itself.

What Paul Asked Prayer For

One of the most revealing moments in the passage is what Paul asks prayer for.

He does not ask to escape prison.

He asks for boldness.

He wants prayer so he can continue revealing the mystery of the gospel:

Christ in you.

Even chained, Paul still believed the life of Jesus within him was greater than the circumstance surrounding him.

Learning To Begin From Rest

In Jewish life, the day began at sundown.

Rest came first.

That is a beautiful picture of life with God.

We do not fight our way toward rest. We begin there.

And prayer becomes the place where we stop striving long enough to remember whose strength, peace, and life we are actually living from.

Already Dressed

You do not wake up trying to become equipped.

You wake up already clothed in Christ.

Already loved and supplied with what is needed for this day.

Prayer keeps drawing your attention back to that reality.

And over time, you begin to recognize that the battle is not first about trying harder.

It is about remaining aware of the One whose life is already joined to yours.

Reflection

How do I usually approach prayer?

Where have I been trying to carry life in my own strength?

What would change if I began each day from rest instead of pressure?

Prayer

Abba Father, thank You that I do not walk through this life alone. Teach me to remain aware of Your life within me and to live from the strength, peace, and love You have already given me in Christ. Amen.
