Get Dressed (Part Two)
The Battle Is Closer Than You Think
Read Ephesians 6:10–18
What The Enemy Actually Wants
One of the enemy’s greatest goals is not simply to attack you.
It is to separate you.
To isolate you from truth.
From people.
From peace.
From the awareness of who you are in Christ.
That’s why Paul says our struggle is not against flesh and blood.
People are not the enemy.
And the moment we begin believing they are, the battle quietly turns sideways.
The War Around Identity
From the garden onward, the enemy has always worked through accusation, distortion, and lies.
“Did God really say?”
That question still echoes.
Because the battle is rarely just about circumstances. It is about what those circumstances are trying to convince you to believe about God, yourself, and others.
If the enemy can get you to doubt God’s goodness, question your identity, or lose hope, he can weaken your ability to stand.
Why The Arrows Feel So Personal
Paul describes “flaming arrows” coming against us.
And many of those arrows sound familiar.
“If God was really good…”
“If you were really His…”
“You’ll never change.”
“You’re alone in this.”
The attacks feel personal because they come against the image of God within you.
But they are not revealing your identity.
They are trying to make you forget it.
The Shield You Were Given
Paul says to take up the shield of faith.
Not manufactured confidence.
Not pretending.
Not trying harder.
Faith begins with trust.
Trusting the character of God when your emotions, circumstances, or thoughts are trying to tell a different story.
And faith does not grow through panic and striving.
It grows through remaining near Him long enough to remember what is true.
Why We Stand Together
This is also why we need one another.
Sometimes another person’s faith helps steady us when our own thoughts become loud.
Sometimes we need someone beside us reminding us of God’s goodness when we’ve grown weary in the fight.
That is not a weakness.
That is part of how the body of Christ was designed to function.
Holding Your Ground
Paul never tells believers to charge forward in fear.
He tells them to stand.
To remain anchored in truth.
To remain aware of Christ.
To remain grounded in peace.
The battle takes on a very different character when you realize you are not trying to earn a victory.
You are learning to stand in the victory Jesus already secured.
Reflection
What thoughts or accusations have been shaping the way I see myself lately?
Where have I been treating people like the enemy instead of remembering the real battle?
Who in my life helps remind me what is true?
Prayer
Abba Father, help me recognize the lies and accusations that try to pull me away from Your truth. Strengthen my trust in Your goodness and remind me who I am in Christ. Teach me to stand steady, surrounded by Your peace and Your people. Amen.
