Get Dressed (Part One)
You Are More Equipped Than You Think
Read Ephesians 6:10–18
Where Paul Actually Begins
When most people think about spiritual warfare, they immediately think about the battle.
Paul doesn’t.
By the time we reach Ephesians 6, Paul has already spent five chapters reminding believers who they are in Christ.
Loved.
Chosen.
Forgiven.
Filled with His Spirit.
Then, only after establishing all of that, Paul says:
“Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God…”
Identity always shapes how you fight the battle.
Remember Who Is Wearing The Armor
The person putting on the armor is not an orphan trying to survive a hostile world.
It is a beloved child of God.
Most of us wake up trying to become strong enough for whatever is ahead of us. But Paul points us somewhere entirely different:
“Be strong in the Lord…”
Not strong in yourself.
Strong in Him.
What He Has Already Given
Paul never tells believers to create armor.
He tells them to put on what has already been given.
Truth.
Righteousness.
Peace.
Faith.
Salvation.
Even the righteousness protecting your heart is not self-produced righteousness. It is the righteousness of Christ covering you with divine approval.
You are not dressing yourself in your own strength.
You are learning to live from what He has already provided.
Why We Need One Another
One of the things I love about this picture is that there is no armor for your back.
The design assumes others are around you.
The enemy loves isolation because isolated people become vulnerable people. He wants the battle to become all about “me” instead of “we.”
But the body of Christ was never designed to fight alone.
We remind each other of what is true about their identity as His beloved child when someone begins to forget.
Standing In What Has Already Been Won
This battle is real.
But so is the victory of Jesus.
You are not fighting for victory.
You are standing in the victory Christ has already won.
And when you begin living from that reality, you stop approaching life as though everything depends on your strength alone.
You begin standing in His.
Reflection
Where have I been trying to fight in my own strength?
What would change if I truly believed I am already equipped in Christ?
Who around me may need encouragement instead of isolation?
