Goodness vs. Compromise
“Hold the Line When It’s Easier to Slide”
Part VI: "Fruit of the Spirit and Fruit of Fear" Series
“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
—Romans 12:21 (NIV)
“The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.”
—Proverbs 11:3 (NIV)
“Blessed are those who act justly, who always do what is right.”
—Psalm 106:3 (NIV)
Goodness isn’t just about doing “nice” things.
It’s about choosing what’s right—even when it’s hard.
Fear wants to blur the line.
Compromise whispers, “It’s not that big of a deal.”
Goodness says, “Obedience is worth the cost.”
“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
Not just big, obvious evil. But subtle, behind-closed-doors compromise, too.
Compromise is the fear of missing out covered in justification.
It says, “Just this once,” or “God understands.”
But “the integrity of the upright guides them.”
God honors consistency more than charisma.
Want to walk in power?
Don’t flirt with what God calls false.
Don’t trade purity for popularity.
“Blessed are those who act justly, who always do what is right.”
Goodness might not always get noticed, but it always gets rewarded.
Hold the line.
Even if you stand alone, you never stand unseen.
Prayer
Lord, when fear tempts me to bend, remind me of who I am and whose I am. Help me value integrity over image and obedience over opportunity. Grow the fruit of goodness in me—not for applause, but for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
