Life Still Happens
Living Through It With Him
“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
Not An Inoculation
The Holy Spirit in your life is not an inoculation from trials, suffering, temptation, falling or failing.
We can love Jesus deeply and still receive difficult news, struggle with temptation, or wake up hurting.
That can be confusing when we thought following Him would make those things disappear.
Jesus promised His friends both trouble and His presence. We haven’t missed Him because life is difficult.
His Life Within Ours
The Holy Spirit meets us in our humanness, not after we’ve managed to rise above it.
We can bring Abba our disappointment, our fear, and the anger we don’t quite know what to do with.
His Love can soften a heart growing bitter and help us forgive without denying the hurt. When we fail, He helps us face what happened, make amends, and continue living as someone completely loved.
Joy Without Pretending
We aren’t expected to exchange our tears for a cheerful face.
The Spirit helps us pray when words won’t come, and His comfort often reaches us through someone willing to sit beside us.
Joy can grow alongside grief. Peace can steady us while questions remain unanswered. We receive His tenderness in the middle of life and discover we have tenderness to offer someone else who is hurting, too.
The promise isn’t that nothing will hurt us. It is that the Life of Jesus within us can keep becoming Love through us—even here.
Reflection
Where have I mistaken difficulty for God’s absence?
What can I bring honestly into our fellowship today?
Who might receive His comfort through me?
Prayer
Abba Father, meet us in our humanness. Let Your Spirit bring comfort, renew our joy, and help us share Your Love. Amen.
