Metamorphosis
The Beauty We Haven’t Seen Yet
“If God doesn’t build the house, the builders only build shacks.” Psalm 127:1, The Message
“Beware of returning to what you once were when God wants you to be something you have never been.” — Oswald Chambers
Wishing For Yesterday
“I used to have such a great relationship with God.”
I hear those words from people who miss the joy of an earlier season. They want to feel close to Him again, and something precious lives in that longing.
But wanting to go back can be a little like a chrysalis saying, “I wish I were a larva again!”
More Than A Familiar Season
We can treasure what we experienced with Jesus without needing to recreate it.
He hasn’t become a memory; He lives in us now, even when life with Him feels unfamiliar.
The psalmist reminds us that God is the builder. Our foundation isn’t how well we can reproduce yesterday, but the faithfulness of the One we get to walk with today.
Beauty We Couldn’t Create
You and I dream of being pretty larvae, and His dreams for us are beautiful butterflies!
We don’t have to manufacture that beauty or figure out every stage of its unfolding.
As we surrender to His love, His Life finds expression through ours in ways we couldn’t have designed ourselves.
We can thank Abba for yesterday without asking Him to take us back there.
There is still more of His beauty to discover—and we won’t have to go backward to find it.
Reflection
What past season have I been trying to recreate?
Where might familiarity be keeping me from receiving something new?
What would trusting His love look like today?
Prayer
Abba Father, thank You for bringing me here with You. Help me enjoy our life today and trust the beauty You are still revealing. Amen.
