My Father’s Business

Sharing His Life, Giving His Love

My Father’s Business

Sharing His Life, Giving His Love

“Did you not see and know that it is necessary…for Me to be in My Father’s house and [occupied] about My Father’s business?” Luke 2:49

Where Else Would He Be?

Have you ever lost sight of a child in a crowd? Our minds can run through every possible lousy scenario before we’ve even finished calling their name!

Imagine Mary and Joseph’s fear when Jesus wasn’t in their returning caravan.

When they finally found Him in the temple, He spoke as though there were nothing else to imagine: He was about His Father’s business.

Love In The Ordinary

Working with Joseph, facing temptation in the wilderness, turning water into wine, teaching His disciples, or caring for someone who was hurting—Jesus was always living from the relationship He shared with His Father.

He wasn’t simply completing assignments.

The Father’s love was finding expression through His life, right where people lived.

His Life Through Ours

Jesus gave Himself on the cross and continues to intercede for us at His Father’s right hand.

He is still about His Father’s business, and He shares that Life with us.

As His Spirit leads us, we get to listen with His tenderness, offer the mercy we’ve received, and make room for someone who needs to know they matter.

I want to recognize His Father’s business in the people already sharing my day. A friend who needs company or a child who wants my attention may not appear on my list of important things to accomplish.

But loving them isn’t an interruption to His Father’s business. It is the very thing we get to share with Him.

Reflection

Where do I recognize Jesus at work in my everyday life?

Who might need my attention more than my next accomplishment?

What would sharing His Father’s business look like today?

Prayer

Jesus, You are so much more than an example; You are our Life! Let the Father’s love become something others experience through us. Amen.
