Postponed Obedience
You Don’t Always Have To Struggle
“We have received grace and apostleship through Him to bring about believing obedience among all nations for His name’s sake.” Romans 1:5
What Am I Waiting For?
“Sometimes ‘struggling’ is a nice word for ‘postponed obedience.’” — Elisabeth Elliot
I can say I’m struggling to slow down while continuing to say yes to everything.
I want the rest Jesus offers, but I’m waiting for my schedule to give me permission!
Abba understands the difference between a wound that needs tending and a step I keep putting off. His Love meets me in both.
Grace For The Response
Forgiving someone, accepting forgiveness, praying, setting a needed boundary, or simplifying our lives can feel difficult. We don’t have to dismiss that difficulty, but neither must we wait until responding feels easy.
Obedience is not something we have to manufacture; it is something the Holy Spirit empowers.
Paul connects grace with believing obedience.
The One inviting us to respond is already sharing His Life with us.
I can bring Him my reluctance and trust Him with the next step, rather than trying to become ready without Him.
Love Gets To Move
Surrendering to Jesus involves our choices, our time, and the way we treat one another.
Slowing down can give someone our attention. A needed boundary can make room for healthier relationships. Receiving forgiveness can help us extend mercy.
We aren’t obeying to earn our place with Abba. We are participating in the Love we already share.
The people beside us get to receive more than our good intentions; they get to experience His Love.
Reflection
What response have I been putting off?
Where do I need to receive His grace rather than demand more determination?
Who might experience His Love through my response?
Prayer
Abba Father, help me trust Your goodness and respond to Your Spirit. Let the Love You give flow freely through me to others. Amen.
