And you shall remember the whole way that the Lord your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not. And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. Deuteronomy 8:2-3
Tests
When God tests us, He doesn't want the answer for Himself; He wants it for us.
We may be tested by:
Major changes,
Delayed promises,
Broken covenants,
Unanswered prayers,
Undeserved criticism,
Senseless tragedies.
In my own life, I have noticed God tests:
My faith through problems.
My trust in how I handle possessions.
My love through how I interact with people.
Regardless of the type of test, it always reveals our deep need for Him to be our life.
Looking back, what test has been the most profitable and life-changing for you and others?
Lord, may we not despise Your tests for us. Awaken us to where we are so we may go where You desire us to be. Amen
