Jesus Lived An Ordinary Life
Sometimes we can divide our lives into what we consider spiritual and everything else.
Prayer is spiritual. Church is spiritual. Reading Scripture is spiritual.
But what about dinner?
Jesus ate with His friends. He went fishing. He climbed mountains, attended weddings, visited homes, walked countless miles, and when He was tired, He even took naps.
He didn't have to make those moments spiritual.
He was there.
No Dividing Line
Jesus is our Life, and He isn't waiting for us to finish the ordinary parts of our day so we can finally do something holy.
He shares all of it with us.
The morning coffee. A conversation with a friend. Working in the yard. Laughing around a dinner table. Holding someone's hand. Taking a walk. Enjoying something beautiful. Even closing our eyes for a much-needed nap.
The life of Jesus isn't added to our life.
He is our Life!
Enjoy The Life You've Been Given
Maybe holiness looks much more ordinary than we've imagined.
We don't have to turn every meal into a Bible study or every conversation into a sermon. We can simply live awake to the One who lives within us, allowing His Love to become present in whatever the day brings.
Abba isn't only glorified in what we call spiritual.
He is glorified as His children enjoy the beautiful gift of being alive with Him.
There are no ordinary moments when every moment is being lived with Jesus.
Reflection
Where have I unnecessarily divided my life into sacred and ordinary?
What ordinary part of today could I simply enjoy with Jesus?
How might His Love become visible there?
Prayer
Abba Father, awaken me to Your presence in the everyday life You've given me. Let me enjoy it with You and allow Your Love to fill the ordinary moments of today. Amen.
