The Journey

What are you learning?

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding. Acknowledge him in all your ways; he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

The Journey

In the last few years, I have begun to ride my road bicycle again. To my wife's dismay, I mainly ride it on the roads around Lake Barkley. I have not found even a half mile of flat terrain! This is great if one is looking for a workout, for there is nothing as challenging as climbing up a long 45-degree hill. The following are some life observations I have made on my trips.

The pain of riding up a steep hill is greater and much longer than the joy of riding down the hill.

Do it anyway; it is part of the journey.

The ride is more enjoyable if I pay attention to the landscape instead of just trying to get the ride over with.

Enjoy the journey.

Once, I had ridden a route with a couple of long "killer" hills, but I put it off because I knew the challenges ahead.

Through His wisdom and mercy, God does not tell us our immediate future. He gives us the grace to empower our daily journey.

How are you avoiding the potentially challenging yet rewarding areas of your life?

What conversations or relationships are you avoiding that could benefit His kingdom if addressed?

Lord, You hold us and invite us to journey. Open us up wide for the fullness of the abundant life with You. Not for circumstances of ease and pleasure, but one of Your presence leading and empowering us for Your glory. Amen
