“I am the true Vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that continues to bear fruit, He [repeatedly] prunes, so that it will bear more fruit [even richer and finer fruit]. John 15:1-2 AMP
The Reward Of Pruning
Remember that the Father will reward all growth with pruning.
He is the vinedresser. Only He knows the how, when, and what needs to be pruned.
Our job is not to "prune" ourselves.
That is no wiser than you removing your own gallbladder!
We tend to leave the pretty growth for all to see like a courting Peacock.
But He prunes to reveal the beautiful!
Pruning looks forward, whereas when we look at the growth, we view what He has done.
And a big leafy branch is prettier than one that has been skillfully pruned.
But wait. He is always desiring the end and not the means.
The means to fruit is growth. So, the fruit is always the end.
Pruning leads to more fruit.
His desire is "more fruit."
His call has never been, "Multiply and be fruitful".
His call is, "Be fruitful and multiply".
Why?
Because He desires us to multiply what is valuable.
The Fruit of the Spirit is Love.
Multiply Love.
How are you trying to "work" on yourself instead of yielding to our Father to will and do of His good pleasure in your life?
Lord, teach us to yield to Your shears, knowing You prune for our reward and Your glory! Amen
