You Don’t Have To Disappear
The Beauty Of Christ Living Through You
“It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.” Galatians 2:20
A Question Worth Asking
We can be grateful for the people who helped us understand Scripture and still ask, “Is that what this passage is saying?”
Looking again doesn’t mean we love the Bible less. It can help us receive more of the Life it reveals.
John Was Celebrating
Take John the Baptist’s words: “He must increase, but I must decrease.”
We can hear that as an instruction to make ourselves smaller, even mistaking hidden gifts or restrained joy for humility.
John called himself the bridegroom’s friend, celebrating the arrival of Jesus. He was gladly directing people toward Him, not telling us to erase our humanity.
What we may have carried as a burden was spoken by someone whose joy was full (John 3:29–30).
Not Less Human
Matthew Hester writes, “We do not disappear into God.” Paul said Christ lived in him, yet he continued living as someone loved by Jesus, not someone Jesus had replaced.
There is plenty in us that needs healing, but our humanity isn’t a mistake Abba is trying to erase.
His Love frees us from proving our worth so our gifts can become gifts to others.
Room To Listen
As we listen, the Spirit helps us recognize the Life we already share.
His kindness can sound like your voice, carry your humor, and find expression through your gifts.
Jesus isn’t asking you to disappear; He is freeing you to love as the person He created you to be.
Reflection
What familiar verse could I revisit with Jesus?
Have I confused humility with hiding?
Where could His Love find expression through me?
Prayer
Abba Father, open our eyes to Your heart and free us to enjoy the Life we share. Amen.
