Your Identity Isn’t All About You
You weren’t designed to be independent; you were made for interdependence.
Wait—what? Not all about me?
Exactly.
Your identity in Christ is about something bigger. It’s about Him—and how His life flows through you into His family and His mission of love.
We live in a world obsessed with self-discovery. But in God’s Kingdom, identity isn’t discovered in isolation; it’s received in relationship.
Identity – Who I Am in Christ
Your identity is the bedrock of your life. It’s not the role you play—roles can change. Your identity fuels your role; it’s not the role itself.
John 17:22–23 says the Father loves you just as He loves Jesus. That’s the starting point—not your performance, not your résumé, not your reputation.
Beloved means you’ve received His love—and that love is meant to flow through you.
Belonging – Where I Fit in His Family
You weren’t designed to be independent; you were made for interdependence. Jesus said, “By this everyone will know you are My disciples—if you love one another” (John 13:35).
Belonging means learning to love and be loved in God’s family.
It’s the training ground for using your gifts, talents, and quirks in ways that build others up and bring Him glory.
Purpose – How I Make a Difference
Purpose is not about titles—it’s about love on the move. Acts 17:6 describes the early believers as those who “turned the world upside down.”
Your purpose flows from your identity and belonging. When you believe the Father loves you and you live in His family, His love transforms you—and through you, it transforms the world.
The Danger of Role Confusion
Don’t confuse your role with your identity. I once tied my worth to my career. When the role was going well, I felt good. When it wasn’t, I was undone. That’s when circumstances—and even other people’s opinions—become your god.
Your identity is secure in Christ. That’s your place of power and transformation.
