Jesus asked, “Do you finally believe? But the time is coming—indeed, it’s here now—when you will be scattered, each going his own way, leaving me alone. Yet I am not alone because the Father is with me. I have told you all this so you may have peace in me. Here on earth, you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart because I have overcome the world.” John 16:31-33
He Is Worth It
We've longed to see the roses
But never felt the thorns
And bought our pretty crowns
But never paid the price
We didn't count on suffering
We didn't count on pain
But if there are blessings in the valley
Then in the river, I will wait
(Find Me In The River by Martin Smith)
I made an exciting discovery during a delightful visit with a young lady who operates an idyllic farm that sells blueberries and blackberries and raises goats.
Her blackberries have no thorns!
Not only can you get the delight of picking them yourself, but you can pick them without the pain of getting stuck!
It reminds me of folk's expectations when they say yes to following Jesus Christ.
Even though Jesus promises both thorns and crowns, suffering and joy, we only hear the reward side.
I believe He has more for us in order to glorify Him.
What if the reward is hidden in the thorns?
Lord, more revelation of Yourself to us. May we know there can be joy in the suffering and hope in our tribulations as we walk with You! Amen
