And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him, and behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:16-17
My Beloved Son
Until now, there had been no known public ministry by Jesus.
No miracles.
No prophecy.
No revelations.
No ministry.
Yet, the Father declares this is His beloved Son, whom He is well pleased.
Jesus' identity as the beloved Son is not due to incredible ministry feats but to His Father's love.
Being proceeds doing.
For the origin of any action in the kingdom comes from the King.
And our King is love and loves us.
Not for our 'what' but our 'who'.
We, too, are "Beloved".
How would the lives of others change if you intimately knew the depth, height, length, and width of God's love for you?
Lord, may we see with our hearts Your love for us. We are on one voyage, and Your love leads and empowers all You do through us. Amen
