Waiting With Him

The Patient Love That Never Leaves

Waiting With Him

The Patient Love That Never Leaves

"Love is patient..." — 1 Corinthians 13:4

Patience is not waiting on God. It is waiting with Him. Mark B. Weaver

There are seasons when tomorrow quietly becomes the place we begin living.

We look toward the answer to our prayer, the healing we long for, the door we hope will open, and before long our hearts are measuring time instead of enjoying the One who is holding this very moment.

Maybe that is why patience has earned such a bad reputation.

Some have even joked, "Never pray for patience."

As though patience were God's way of making life harder.

Jesus tells a different story.

The Road Love Chose

The two disciples walking toward Emmaus believed they were leaving behind the greatest disappointment of their lives.

Their conversation was filled with questions, and their hearts carried more sorrow than hope.

What they could not see was that Jesus had already joined them.

He could have met them at the end of the journey.

Instead, Love chose to walk the unanswered miles.

He listened before He explained and stayed before He revealed Himself.

By the time they recognized Him, they discovered He had never been absent.

The Patience Of Love

Perhaps patience is more beautiful than we have imagined.

The answer to your prayer may still be unfolding.

Healing may still be coming.

The story may still be finding its way.

But before any of those arrive, Love does.

The Father has never asked us to measure this season by what has not yet happened. He gently invites us to discover the One who refuses to leave while it is happening.

The Gift Hidden In Today

Brother Lawrence called it Practicing the Presence of God.

Not bringing God into ordinary moments but awakening to the Presence already filling them.

Perhaps patience is simply learning to notice the quiet companionship of Christ in the middle of an unfinished story.

Not waiting for Love to arrive.

But resting in the Love that has been holding every step from the beginning.

Reflection

Where have I been measuring time instead of noticing Presence?

How might this season feel different if I walked with Jesus instead of waiting for Him?

Where is His patient love inviting me to rest today?

Prayer

Abba Father, awaken my heart to Your patient love. Open my eyes to Your presence in this very moment, and teach me to rest in the life we already share through Christ. Amen.
